Miss Me

Do you ever miss me?
       Like really really miss me.
   Not just a simple thought that runs through your mind, for a second or two.
          But thinking, 'Oh man, hope she's doing okay."
Do you ever miss me?
               I know it sounds conceited, coming from me
                       Because being missed by anyone
                 implies that you have something good enough about you to
              be missed.
  But do you ever miss me?
        Do you ever wish you could march right up to my house
             (you know where it is, remember that one time…?)
                   and have me fly into your arms
                           and give me a big ol' bear hug?
Do you ever miss me?
           Because really, I'm just curious.
              Curious on how I miss you so much
                         if you don't miss me at all.
So it's just a question, to you, it may seem.
         But it's really a statement
                    saying that I want you to come back.
Do you ever miss me?
              Do memories of our past together frolic through your thoughts
                    like the delicate baby butterfly we saw that one time, at the zoo?
       And you hope I'm doing okay
             not in a shallow way,
                      but in a really caring way, the only kind of thinking you do.
